Southern Asia

About one fifth of all the people in the world live in Southern Asia. Many of them are very poor. Some live in small villages in the countryside and work as farmers. Rice is the most important crop of the Southern Asia. The farmers rely on the heavy monsoon rain, which fall from June to November, to make there crop grow. If there is no rain, the crop fail. If the rain is to heavy, there are terrible floods when the rivers overflow. Few people live in the north of the area, where it is very mountainous.
