| this photo was taken in a small fishing villiage on the Mekong river. these kids are of the Cham ethnic minority which is an ancient and now widely scattered group that used to rule much of vietnam and surrounding areas centuries ago. fairly recent converts to islam, they are spread out through vietnam, cambodia, thailand, and malaysia. you can see the girl is wearing a traditional Cham woven dress and head covering. |
