To Purify a Room for Birth

If you are going to give birth at home, prepare an altar for the Great Mother in the bedroom.
Cover the altar with a white cloth, and place a picture of the Mother on it.
Get a tall red candle in a fire proof jar, insence, and a bowl of water in which a little salt has been dissolved.
Add fresh flowers to represent the Goddess perennially.

When labor starts, have someone carry the bowl around the room counterclockwise while he or she sprinkles the saltwater ont eh floor and int he corners.
If the person is comfortable saying blessings, suggest something like

"In the name of Lucina, may this room be purified from all negativity!"

Say this many times.

Light the candle and the incense.  
Your friends might be too busy to keep the incense more than artfully minimal.
The candle, however, will probably keep burning throughout the birth.
Uncross legs and unlock any doors in the room.
