Kay fidgeted nervously. "I'm sorry ... but I don't want to talk about this anymore ... at least not right now ... and I'm not going to promise anything until after I get some sleep, though I know you all MEAN well", she insisted. It was starting to become clear to her that this sorcery-stuff was much more contagious than she'd feared. And now that she'd gotten out her confession, there was no longer a strong a motivation for her to continue staying awake".

Turning to Gwenn, Kay said softly "Gwenn, bredu, will you help me upstairs ? The upstairs couch will be fine. I no longer need to take over the bed". "Aye, breda," he replied. He began to gather her up, but she spoke to Louis before he could do so....

"There is also something I must ask of you as well", Kay told Louis, "I need for someone to go to the Base and make some sort of excuse for my absence ... I'm NOT asking you to LIE for me ... I just want for you NOT to share the ENTIRE truth".

Then she added "perhaps you could simply say that I had an allergic reaction to something I had at a pub last night, and that I was attacked soon after I left. You can also say that I expect to report back for duty tomorrow, but also that I very strongly desire complete privacy while I finish recovering today. Do NOT under ANY circumstances mention anything about me being a genetic freak, and don't give my exact location. If anyone asks, says that you don't know".

Gwenn said, "Breda, if he will bide while I settle ye upstairs, I will accompany him to the base an' make your excuses. Perhaps 'twill be better coming from your kin, an' then I will be the one to answer the questions, and Mestru Louis need nae fear dishonoring his word." Gwenn picked Kay up to carry her upstairs.

This time Kay didn't complain. Gwenn and Louis could sort out that matter between themselves. It was getting more and more difficult for her to stay awake -- and she didn't have any more stim-tabs left either.

Dani nodded from where she stood. She didn't like the idea of keeping something from Connor if he were to ask.... but that was what Kay wanted, and she would respect her wishes.

Kay then gave Louis a wide grin, saying mischievously, "Afterall, I might easily go somewhere ELSE after YOU leave -- and you can't prove that I'm fey-blooded without proving that _YOU_ are too". But the tone of her voice make it obvious that she was just joking.

Melissa nodded, and stood up from where she had been sitting. "Get some rest." she said gently to Kay. "I'll come by tomorrow to check on you and see how you're doing." She delicately smoothed back a lock of stray hair that had fallen onto Kay's damp forehead. "Be careful, and I'll see you in the morning, Breda."

"Thank you ... for everything", came Kay's reply, "I don't know what I would have done without your support. I know it's hard for you to understand some of my irrational fears and prejudices, so I appreciate your continued patience all the more. Have a safe trip home".

Putting on her cloak, Melissa turned towards Gwenn. "Gwenn, if there is anything that comes up - you know where to reach me in the castle? The Haldar Suites. Please don't hesitate to find me if you need anything." She looked at both Gwenn and Kay as she said this.

"If we need ye, we will send, or I will come m'self, damisela. Haldar Suites. I'll nae forget", Gwenn assurred her. Kay just smiled.

Dani joined Melissa as she pulled her own cloak around her. "I'll walk back with you Melissa." Dani turned to Kay and Gwenn and added "If you need me, send word to the Aldaran Suites and I'll come."

Gwenn bowed. "Aye, damisela, an' we thank'e for the offer."

Then Dani looked over at Melissa, saying "Shall we? You need rest and food too". Melissa nodded, and they left the little house together, walking back to the castle.
