Known by many names, Brighid is the Universal Mother. Her name is taken to mean "Power," "Renown" and "Fiery Arrow of Power." She is one of the oldest goddesses of Celtic Europe still recognized and worshipped. Her three aspects are (1) Fire of Inspiration as patroness of poetry, arts and crafts; (2) Fire of the Hearth, as patroness of healing and fertility, and (3) Fire of the Forge, as patroness of smithcraft and martial arts

3 (fror the trinity of her aspects), and 19 (the Celtic Great year -- the number of years it takes for the new moon to coincide with the Sun's winter solstice).
