1     What did a king give to and receive from his nobles?

 Answer: The king gave land to the nobles, who swore an oath of loyalty and agreed to fight for the king if he needed their support. 

2     What did a noble give to and receive from the knights?

Answer: The nobles gave land to knights for their services as soldiers.

3     What did nobles and knights give to and receive from the peasants?

Answer: The nobles and knights gave the peasants strips of land to farm for themselves.

4     What is this system called?

Answer: It is called The Feudal System.

5     How were castles protected?

Answer: the castles were protected from attack by a moat full of water. The moat could only be crossed by a drawbridge. This could be raised in times of dangers.

6     How were people and animals housed in a castle?

Answer: Inside the walls of the castle was an inner courtyard where it was stable for horses and quarters for soldiers.

7     Where did the lord and lady stay in the castle?

Answer: The lord and lady stayed in the centre of the castle. It was a fortified house to give them protection.

8     What did knights have to do according to the code of chivalry?

Answer:   

      1.    to show respect for the church.
      2.    to have pity on the poor.
      3.    to show bravery.
      4.    to behave with courtesy especially towards women.
      5.    to keep their words.
      6.    to swear to serve the lord who knighted him.
