CHAPTER FOUR
And with this new beginning came a happy ending. For thru that same closed Window of panes, the King of Hearts peeked in and saw his Queen of Roses that he had searched for the World over. He was a wise man, and did not yank her out of the ground for the taking. He did not want to own and possess her for what she could give of herself for him to take. Instead his desire was to gently nurture her, to cultivate the ground she lived upon, so that she could walk an easy path towards blooming to her potential. All that he wanted was the joy of watching her blossom as he tenderly cared for her. All that he hoped was that they would share the same air that she would perfume with her essence. All that he dreamed was to have her walk freely down the path he cultivated for her into his heart. He had no fear of thorns, for his heart would gladly bleed for her touch. For he was one of the Knowing. In his wisdom he knew the Art of giving leads to the Joy of receiving.
Warily the Princess watched the King of Hearts create a garden of life outside her walls. As he pulled the thick weeds of Injustice from the swampy soils that surrounded her, sunlight pierced the dissipating darkness that was choking the life out of her being. As he circumnavigated his way around her fortress, sowing seeds of Contentment, he discovered the hidden door to her heart. Carefully he opened that door to the refreshed air of Life, allowing the sunlight to push the shadows into the deep corners of her self imprisonment. He did not dare enter, for he knew this was her safe haven of solitary confinement. Instead, he continued to cultivate her dismal terrain. And when she ventured to step outside her walls, he looked up from his work momentarily to give her a smile, then quietly returned to his work as he watched her gingerly, yet freely move about the garden he had created for her. The King of Hearts diligently worked the path from the Swamps to the Lost Continent, fervently hoping that she would follow. And the Fates smiled upon them both with re-assurance as the Princess followed her heart down that path, confident that this King of Hearts would love her the way her father loved her mother.
