POET TREE 4

THEIR LIFE UPON THE SEA

A pirate went a wandering

Across the briny sea.

Never wanted a "lubbers" life

Like banks or accountancy.

"His mate was a mighty sailing man"

Though in stature he was small.

But in courage and in faithfullness

He was over ten feet tall.

The world was a wide and wonderous place

In days when men sailed free

And these two men would never change

Their life upon the sea.

So, raise your cup and drink a toast

To men the likes of these

For ne'er again will we see their like

In our modern days of ease.

ME Matey & Me

We went to sea ,
Me matey and me.

In search of adventure,
and gold and treasure.

We went to sea ,
me matey and me.

To find exotic lands, lovely ladies ,
palm trees and golden sands.

On Galleons, Frigates, and on Clippers we did serve,
fought many a battle, that would unnerve.

To sail across the seven seas,
Me matey and me.

Hear ye, hear ye, ring the bell

hearken all who will give heed, tell the tale

The pirates caught and put to shore

His terrors will harm us no more

His power great was just a mask

He is a weak small man, caught at last

Creatures of the deep, rise up and see

This what men feared is now nothing to me

Put the pirate to shore

Leave him to drown upon the dry land

Hear ye, hear ye

Ring the bell

Tell the tale

The sea monster led our ship astray

into a dangerous rocky cay

Left us a hole within the hull

abandoned to land that was quite dull

Fog and mist, land without trees

lightning skies, a nonstop breeze

The Captain and his faithful cook

went ashore to have a look

Without the trees, there was no wood

now to survive if only they could

They can't cook upon a rock

No trees means there is no dock

The ship's hole, it will remain

Now the crew will go insane

Ring the bell and bang the pot

No worries, mate, this is our lot
