John (BEC) was born in 1804. He may have married Sarah Bustle. In Iredell County in 1830, John Kistler and his wife, Sarah (nee Bustle), an heir to Henry Bustle, sold her right of inheritance to John Bustle (probably, Sarah's brother). Sarah died just a few years later. She is buried at St. Michaels Lutheran Cemetery in Iredell County, NC. Her gravestone shows that she died 1/11/1833, aged 27. John then married Sarah Scroggs. The publication, Iredell County Heritage, describes John Kistler/Kestler as a widower of considerable wealth who married Sarah Scroggs. The publication, Family and Church Cemetery Records in Iredell County, NC, 1753-1975, lists the Scroggs Cemetery. Buried there are John Kestler, 11/9/1804-2/13/1878, and his wife, Sarah (nee Scroggs), 2/11/1800 -2/13/1891. Also buried there are an infant son of John and Sarah who died in February of 1840 and an infant daughter of John and Sarah who died in 1841. The 1850 Census records for Iredell County, NC, show John "Kiester", age 46; Sarah, age 48; Lewis, age 21; James, age 19; David, age 15; Esther, age 12; Amos, age 8; and Sarah, age 5. The 1860 Census records for Iredell County, NC, show John "Kestler", age 55; Sarah, age 55; John, age 31; James, age 29; David, age 25; Esther, age 22; Amos, age 18; and Sally, age 14. The 1870 Census records for Iredell County, NC, show John "Keistler", age 65; Sarah, age 69; John L., age 41; James P., age 39; and David, age 34. Records at the North Carolina State Archives in Raleigh show that John Kistler/Kisler died in February 1878.
