Valentine (BCG) is named in his father's estate papers. Various records indicate he was born in 1802. Records of Rowan County, NC, show Valentine married Nancy Marshall in March 1822; however, marriage and death notices in the Western Carolinian show that Valentine "Keisler" and Nancy "Wilkinson" were married in Salisbury, Rowan County in March 1822. Possibly, Nancy had previously been married to a Marshall; her gravestone in the Presbyterian Burying Grounds in Concord, Cabarrus County shows Nancy G. nee "Wilkerson", wife of Valentine, died October 12, 1853, aged 48/7/21. Valentine's gravestone shows a birth date of 1802; the date of death cannot be read.
Valentine appears in the 1830, 1840, and 1850 Census records for Cabarrus County, NC. The 1850 Census shows Valentine, age 48; Nancy G., age 45; Mary E., age 20; Jane D., age 16; Sarah, age 11; and
Valentine, age 8.
