Notes for Catherine BOOK

February 18, 1908 Lancaster New Era obituary:

The many friends of Mrs. Catharine Keeports, widow of Rev. Christian Keeports, for a number of years a minister of the River Brethern Church, will be pained to hear of her death, which occurred on Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Brubaker, on Rider Avenue, in Lancaster township. She was in the eighty-third year and death was due directly to apoplexy. About four weeks ago, however, she had an attack of the grippe, which left her in a weakened condition, and when she was stricken with apoplexy about a week ago her system was unable to stand the shock. Mrs. Keeports was a native of New Danville, her maiden name being Book. Her husband has been dead for thirty-two years. Possessed of excellent traits of character, she was endeared to a large circle of acquaintances who will learn of her demise with deep regret. The following children survive her, Mrs. Jacob Good, New Danville; David of Philadelphia; Aaron, manager of the Spencer farm, west of the city, and Emma, residing in this city. One brother, Elias Book, of Kansas, also survives. The deceased was a member nearly all her life of the River Brethern demonination. The funeral wil be held from the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Good, at New Danville, on Friday morning at nine o'clock and at ten o'clock services will be held at the Pequea church.
