Military: Co. A, 1st Reg. Penna. Infantry. Enrolled May 9, 1898. Mustered in May 11, 1898. Mustered out with company October 26, 1898. Source: RECORD OF PENNSYLVANIA VOLUNTEERS IN THE SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR, 1898.

Stationed at Chickamauga, GA in June, 1898.

11/99 "Charlie is still going to college... had an "attack" practicing football. I hope he is thoroughly cured this time. Doctors said it was heart trouble. Has suffered from indegestion since he got back from Chickamauga."

5/01 Working for the railroad. Apparently quits shortly thereafter and is looking for work.

8/01 Living at 2013 N. Norris St., Philadelphia

Death: From handwritten copy of death notice: "Mrs. MacMillin's boarding house was quaratined Nov. 24th 1901. No. 2013 W. Norris St., Philadelphia. Her daughter's infant taken with a light attack of small pox. Dec. 10th 1901 young Mrs. MacMillan and Charles E. Kistler attacked with the disease and they with the infant were removed by the Board of Health to the Municipal Hospital. ... Cause of Death: Variola. Buried in Lot (not stated) Section (not stated) Odd Fellows Cemetery, 23rd & Diamond Sts, Philada, Pa. Sat. Dec. 21st 1901"
