"Clark B. Kistler was born May 22, 1885, at Elliottsburg, the son of Clayton J. and Ellen (Shearer) Kistler. He attended the public schools and the New Bloomfield Academy, graduating from Pennsylvania College in 1909. He did special work at the University of Pittsburgh since then. He taught in the schools of Perry County and in the High School at Connellsville, Pa. In 1913 he taught in the Department of History in the Pittsburgh High School, and in 1915 began teaching Mathematics in Carnegie Institute of Technology." Source: HISTORY OF PERRY COUNTY, p. 822
