"Mary J. Kistler was born at Blain, the daughter of John A. and Caroline V. (Sheibley) Kistler. She attended the public schools and the New Bloomfield Academy, graduating from the Edinboro State Normal School in 1896. She has taught in the schools of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, and is now deaconess in the St. James' Methodist Episcopal Church in New York City, superintendent of the New York Deaconess Home and superintendent of the New York Deaconess Association."
