Obituary: "Abram J. Kistler, a resident of Centre township, died at his home in Pleasant Valley on Friday, January 31, from a complication of diseases. The deceased was a son of Abram and Christina Stambaugh Kistler, late of Spring township and was born December 30, 1841, in Spring township, on what is known as the John K. Stambaugh farm, about one mile east of Elliotsburg. Mr. Kister was engaged in farming all his long life in Spring and Centre townships. He also filled the offices of school director and tax collector, of Centre township, ... Since a boy Mr. Kistler was a member of the Evangelical church... He also filled the various church offices and served many years as superintendent of the Sunday school. He was married to Miss Adaline Wetzel, daughter of the late George Wetzel, of Spring township, June 6, 1860, by the Rev. Mufser, pastor of the Reformed church at Elliottsburg... At the time of his heath he was aged 77 years, 1 month and 1 day. Surviving are his wife and three sons, Harry E. Kistler, of Bellingham, Washington; James H. Kistler, or Butte, Mont., and S.M. Kistler, of Pleasant Valley. ... Internment in the Evangelical cemetery , Elliottsburg." Source: Newspaper obituary quoted in Collins.
