Birth: Helen Kline Mooty, Grundy Center, IA states birth date given by Johston is incorrect and gives September 15-16, 1772 as correct date. Source: Query in Perry Historians newsletter, September, 1992.
Land ownership: Purchased 100 acres from father-in-law Peter Scheibly in 1808, formerly the David Carson tract who received a warrant for same June 3, 1762, later sold to Andrew Long of Fayette Co., then to Henry Kline, "which has ever since been known as the Henry Kline farm." Located between Green Park and Loysville. Kline built the "big stone house" in 1822. Source: Johnston.
"The Kline house is located just northwest of Green Park and between Green Park and Loysville. The Kline farm, formerly that or Peter Scheibley, was owned by P. Wolf according to the 1877 Atlas of Perry, Juniata and Mifflin Counties." Source: Letter of Jerry A. Clouse, 11/16/98
He was "a stone mason, contractor and builder." In his latter years he became a Church of God preacher. Source: Johnston.
Will of Henry Kline dated April 12, 1848 (Will book, Perry Co., PA, LDS film 022005) Directs executors to sell his real estate and divide among his children: George, John, Peter and Jacob, Polly (wife of John Irvin), Margaret (wife of Jacob Kiner), Lydia (wife of John W. Collins), Elizabeth (wife of Daniel Smith), Susannah (wife of George M. Curtney), Mary (wife of Peter Smith), Sarah (wife of Michael Kepner), Dinah (wife of Henry Ebbert) and Catherine (wife of Samuel Tistler (sic)). Six hundred dollars to be held as a lien on the property, the interest of which to be applied to the support of son William "who is a lunatic." Appoints John w. Collins and John Stambaugh executors and guardians of his son William. Will proved August 29, 1848.
Death: Obituary pubished in The Church Advocate, September 1, 1848, "Died, on the 7th of August, at his residence near Landisburg, Perry Co., Pa, brother Henry Kline, aged 75 years, 10 months and 21 days."
Burial: "Rev. Kline and his first wife, Magdalena, are buried on the (Kline) farm, abut two hundred yards west of the house at the southside of the lane. Two young walnut trees stand close together at the heads of the graves and a small squared stone at the foot of one of them." Source: Johnston.
