Obituary: "Death of Mr. John Kistler-- Mr. John Kistler an honored and respected citizen of Perry County, died at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. D.M. Garland, Jan. 20th, 1887, was born at Loysville, Jan. 14th 1800. His father's name was Abram and his mother, Maria Loy was a sister of Caspar Lupfer's wife, john Bernheisel's wife and Nicholas Ickes' wife and also sister or John, George and Michael Loy. The deceased was married to Salome Tressler. He is father of Rev. J. Kistler, a former missionary to Africa and of the well known I. Kistler. Esq. of Madison township, and grandfather of Rev. J.L. Kistler, of Harwick Seminary, N.Y. His relationship is very extended, being scattered over nearly all of the middle and western states. He early in life united with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of which he was a consistent and faithful member until the end of life... He sleeps gently beside his beloved and most excellent and highly esteemed wife, in the cemetery at Loysville..." THE PERRY COUNTY DEMOCRAT, February 9, 1887
