Notes for Benjamin KISTLER
Benjamin was 7 yrs. old when his father died. His childhood was passed under the primative living conditions existing in early Pickaway Co., where his mother's people are said to have been living. At that time little schooling could be obtained in his neighborhood. This young man inherited the Kistler ability to succeed in his undertakings. Inspite of his limited early education, he was a well informed man with sound judgment.
He moved to Hancock Co. with his young wife in Feb. 1841. His farm of 240 acres was one of the best in the country. Mr. Kistler was highly respected and prosperous. By using scientific methods his farm was very productive. He and his wife were members of the Lutheran Church.
