| Snow Day in Carolina Last night, dark & cold, the wind whistled fierce in its intent 'round each bricked corner of this humble home giving way, in the wee hours to the gentle fall of snow which covers, now, our grounds in a pristine and glittering cloak of purest white No memory of last night's howling, left here in these soft drifts circling each tree, and blanketing the brown of winter's clothes... Our feathered friends delight in the offering of seed and corn scampering o'er the frosty mounds twittering in avian gossip perhaps discussing weather? I look about my warm abode taking in the glow of light: pools of yellow welcoming here and there, cheerful glow... Puddles of purring feline draped about the cushions dreaming happily of, perhaps, a feathered feast! I am at peace. K.E.Cline 01/25/2000 |
