Nightfall

Surely, many of you
wouldst that I be akin -
Are you not glad hat
there be
watchful eyes within the dark?
I envelop myself
in the company of soft
night's famliar quiet
Oft strange to those
who by the daylight toil . . .
Yet I find comfort in
the twilight, and
'tween the dusk to dawn
not caring to become
another of the day -

As I watch another
sunrise ripen,
begin its slow birth
from the protecting womb of night
I close my eyes
as you have done:
to become immersed
in slumber
Until the even
beckons me again . . .
