Done It!

Been there, done that
wore the wigs, collected hats
my skull bared
loss of hair
Pallor brought by chemical warfare
Fighting against a minute enemy
  I was a canvas
  a battlefield
  and rose like the Phoenix
from that dead ash of cancer...

My ovaries
(God, rest them, please)
grew tumors - silly eggs!
Reaching out from pelvic stance
across my uterus to dance
sent more nasty cells on legs
  All gone now, cleaned surgically
my future motherhood, wrest from me
but all children are not flesh, you see -
for I have intact my poetry...

Been there, done that
bought the T-shirt, no more hats!
Wear the scars with pride
nothing here to hide
I fought the Reaper
   AND I WON...
