Beautiful

When I say that you are beautiful,
It is not only your eyes:
So piercingly blue and bright
But the wisdom in them
Which belies your youth, and
the way in which you look at me
   tenderly, full of love
   sending messages
   which only I
   might understand
When I say that you are beautiful
It is not only your mouth
Full, and sculpted so perfectly
But the smile which greets me
in happiness and trust
   and the words
   which come forth
   meant for only me -
   our secret language
When I say that you are beautiful,
It is not only your form
Long, lean, and healthy -
But the warmth you share
and the affection so freely given
   each touch
   of you upon me
   meant in love
   adoring all of me
When I say that you are beautiful,
It is not just your "covers" I admire
For I know what lies between them
in the pages of the book of you...
   intellect and emotion,
   grace and fluid motion
a fire for living and your faith
and the passion you share with me...
