Sorry, H!) **please don't take the story idea!** "Endless Waters" Part 2 The Shining Star was about to leave the port and Captain Darien McAllister was frustrated with everything. he thought. But he knew the answer very well. He was filling in for his father while he took a 3 year trip to India. He would be back this year, and Darien couldn't wait. When he was done filling in as captain, he would go to law school and fulfill his dream of being a lawyer. Darien stared out the window of the steering room (AN: K, so I'm not an expert on ships...). His eyes darkened as he thought of standing out on the deck smiling and waving at everyone. Starry-eyed teenage girls loved him, with his deep blue eyes and muscular build. He had no interest in any of them, and had a reputation of being a cold, unfriendly person. He couldn't help it. He had been in love once, and it was a shattered dream. he thought. His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the door opening. "Sir, we're ready to leave the port," reported Adam McNoll, second-in-command. Darien didn't turn from the window. "Very well," he replied, "I'll be out in a minute." McNoll left, and Darien continued to stare out the window. He sighed, and finally walked out to the deck. The sunlight reflected off of his shiny brass buttons, and his crisp captain's uniform, white pants and a short-sleeved white shirt, looked sharp against the clear blue sky. He walked to the rail, and did a double-take as a flash of familiar golden hair caught his eye. Darien's heart began to race, and beads of sweat started to trickle down his forehead. He looked closer, and saw *her*. Even without her usual strange hairstyle he could recognize her anywhere. Serena Lands. Darien sucked in his breath. Serena was standing next to a tall girl with dark brown hair pulled back in a ponytail, laughing at something. The crowd began to point at him, and she looked up. The dazzling smile left her face, an expression of shock and confusion replacing it, then hurt replacing that. She turned away, and rushed to the rail, shaking her head, as if the shake off previous memories. Previous memories that had never left Darien's mind... *Flashback* Serena and Darien walked back inside the house, dripping wet. Darien turned his head to Serena. "Why don't you go and dry off?," he suggested. She nodded, and said, "You're soaked too, here, come with me." She took him by the hand, and led him to and up the stairs. When they reached the top, plush cream-colored carpet led up to wooden doors and either side of drops below with glass railings. A giant gold chandelier cast light upon everything. Serena pointed to a door across from where they were standing. "You can go in there and dry off. There's some extra clothes in the wardrobe and towels in the bathroom. I'll meet you out here in 15 minutes, ok?" "Sure," he said, and opened the wooden door. Behind it was a spacious room with red carpet and black furniture. A rose wallpaper pattern finished off the look. Darien closed the door and walked to the wardrobe. He found a fresh tuxedo in one of the drawers and went to the adjoining bathroom to change. He thought about Serena as he unbuttoned his jacket. he thought. Darien changed and hung his wet tuxedo in the shower. He remembered that Serena still had his cape, and didn't mind. He walked out of the room and sat on a glass bench to wait for Serena. The door to a room opened, and Darien looked up and was left speechless at the beauty standing in front of him. Serena was wearing a long, white strapless gown with small crystals on it in the front that sparkled in the light. Her wet hair was pulled back into an elegant bun, and she held his cape in her hand. A blush crept across her cheeks when she noticed Darien looking at her, and she extended the hand with his cape in it. "Here," Serena said, "It's still a little wet. Thank you." Darien smiled. "Keep it. To remember your 16th birthday by," he offered. "Oh...thank you...Darien," Serena whispered his name softly, as if savoring every syllable. She turned to her room and lay the cape on her bed. She walked out and closed the door. Darien offered her his arm. She took it, and they walked back down the stairs together. *End Flashback* Darien didn't want to think about Serena, or that period of his life anymore. He plastered a fake smile on his face and waved at the crowd, forcing his eyes off of Serena. *********************** Serena thought, But she knew that it was. Just when she didn't want to think about Darien McAllister, she was stuck on a boat with him for 4 nights and 3 days. She would've asked to get off the boat, but it had already begun to move. "Serena?," Katie called, making her way through the crowd on the deck. "Serena, what's going on? You saw the captain, and went totally ballistic!" Serena gritted her teeth. "Ballistic" didn't even begin to describe how she felt. "Katie, remember that guy I told you about, Darien? Darien McAllister?" Katie nodded. "You mean that guy that you...," Katie didn't finish her sentence. "Yeah," Serena said, "That's him. Darien McAllister is the captain of this boat. ********************** Yes, I know, I know. Bad way to end a chapter. Or Part. Or whatever you want to call it. Well, after next Wednesday, I'm gonna have lotsa free time, so bear with me , k? ~*Tess*~ P.S. Pleez sign my book!
