"Snake" puppets
Making a snake is just about the easiest sock puppet there is. Kids love to push their hands into an adult's sock and make it talk.
Materials
  • 1 old sock for each child
(make sure socks are clean or the glue won't stick!)
  • Felt or fun foam
  • Pom-poms
  • White glue (thick craft glue works best)
  • Scissors which will cut felt

    1. Using his "puppet" hand, slip the sock over the child's hand. Push the sock all the way onto the child's hand. Tell him to spread his fingers "like a duck's mouth" (demonstrate if necessary) and push the toe of the sock back between the child's fingers and thumb so that the fold forms the mouth.

    2. Holding the mouth in place, remove the sock from the child's hand.

    3. Allow the child to decorate his puppet as he wishes using pom-poms or felt for eyes, scales etc.

Use the same method to make other sock puppets, adding felt features such as ears, scales, arms or noses.
