| Joyce was born on February 28, 1979 in Yeung Wo Hospital, Hong Kong. She immigrated to Canada, Richmond BC, when she was 3 years of age. Her Family including her four year elder sister, ten year elder brother as well as mom and dad first lived in a house on Larkspur Ave. Richmond BC. That was where she grew up. During the first year she arrived to Canada, because of her age, she waited to be admitted to playschool. During that year, she enjoyed accompanying her mother to work which they owned a small grocery shop on Oak Street, Vancouver BC. When she got to the age of 5, she was finally then admitted to play school where she learned her second language, English. Her first language was Cantonese, she was a quick learner and had learned very quickly how to speak both languages fluently. During the next year after playschool, she then switched to a elementary school named James Thompson which was near her house. She attended her childhood education from kindergarten to grade 7 at Thompson. Finally being grown up to an adolescent, she had moved on to high school, the high school she attended grades 8 - 12 til graduation, was the JN Burnett High School, which was also near her house. During the year of grade 8 she had moved from Larkspur Ave. to a fancier home designed by her mother located on Westminster Hwy., which an old house they used to receive rent, once in an accident due to fire, they decided to tear it down. The house then was rebuilt as her mother's dream home. From then on, she had lived at that home located on Westminster Hwy, just few blocks away from Larkspur Ave. Her first job was working at Arby's fast food restuarant at the age of 14, she worked there for a few months, and throughout her life time she has at least worked for twenty part time and temporary jobs by the age of 24, which besides Arby's, other jobs she had worked for by age 24, include Famous Players Movie Theatre, from Sept 1996 to June 1998, Skyway Sandwhiches at the richmond centre shopping mall food court, Claire's Accesories, Au Coton, Dairy Queen, Escargot French Restuarant, Safari Pies, Tickers Watch & Co. Company, XS Cargo, WH Smith, Ikea, Transit Shoes, Body Shop and others too many to mention. Through out her work history, she has gain a lot of valuable skills that had helped her to develop the skills towards being an entrepreuner. During the year 2002, from September to November, she finally had her first partnership business which was named Mentobe Accessories. Mentobe was the company name, the business that was in operation was a franchise of Tickers Watch and Clock Company. The business unfortunetly due to low traffic at the lansdowne park shopping mall and was not profitable, she decided to close down the business and look for other better opportunities. After some time she decided she needed a break from school and work, everything seemed too stressful as well as her break up with her beloved partner, the company "Mentobe" came from her idea that if that her belove was "Meant to be" together, they would be together which again someday, but then months and days has passed by but no cigar, during July 2003 she wrote this bibliography, at this minute she revises this bibliography, thought..." maybe it was never meant to be, but whatever I don't care as much anymore since I got my own life much back together". Continuing her bibliography written before this thought.... During the time operating Tickers franchise, she continued schooling at Langara College, Vancouver BC, she persude her interest in marketing after accomplished a marketing management certificate from British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) during the years 1998-2000. She continued to follow her education goals towards a Marketing & Sales Diploma at Langara. However due to high stress she discontinued her studies as of November 2002, she believed she needed a break from all that work and school. In the year April 2002 she was diagonosed by her doctor, Dr. Ivy Hui, she had a minor depression disorder which she was required to take the drug prozac to help her out during her daily life activities. However, due to her seperation with her beloved partner and previous stress issues, she finally broke down and took time out from everything in November 2002. Until March 2003, she started slowly to build back her self esteem and courage by working as a part- time at WH Smith, YVR Aiport for a month or so, she then, was called upon for an interview with XS Cargo and continued to work for other jobs as a part time employee and continuing to upgrade her working skills. Her own future goals and dreams came to realization, during the time of her depression and inspiration from a fluffy animal she decided to purchase in August 26th 2002, which was a naughty Shih Tzu male puppy. Her beloved male shih tzu dog named Oby, had been purchased from a breeder. Her puppy had inspired her with lots of joy, comfort, warmth and love and mostly helped her to heal her pain and sorrows from her horrible break up. Because of this, from then on she loved dogs even more than she used to and even loved dogs more than humans. Her first actual puppy she owned was not Oby, it was named Jody, another Pekingese female pup, but however she was taken away due to her mischeviousness when Joyce was a young girl while still living at Larkspur Ave. She had waited for this day for so long to own another puppy since Jody, but however all the years, her parents did not approve, however because of her depression, she decided that she needed a puppy in order to help herself heal, which at that time her family didn't seem to be aware of how much stress and emotional tension she was in. Most of the time, Joyce didn't enjoy family gatherings or social gatherings, it was not because she was very shy, but instead she preferred being alone spending quality time doing whatever she wanted instead of socializing with people. And of course, if you knew Joyce, you wouldn't of been surprised for how finally her puppy went home with her for permanent! The family was surprised and at first didn't approve but however with further surprise as a few days past by,after the puppy stayed home, the family ended up loving and spoiling Oby too much. Months later, she decided to purchase Shylie in May 2003, another shih tzu puppy which is a girl and she claims to be her daughter like Oby, being her beloved son. They get along great. These two little cuddly, fluffy cute animals had inspired Joyce with direction to look forward in becoming a pet groomer and her way of life, to live for herself and not others . Eventhough living life as a human and being human, she claims she fancy dogs more than humans just because dogs are so simple and naive. Well at least that is her thinking at age 24. Her other Hobby include cooking not to mention, she looks forward to own her own or partnership coffee shop with her elder sister one day. She enjoys life to be simple and peaceful,as maybe, it has to due with her adolescent years to young adult too much emotional up and downs. In the present she continues to live with her family in Canada, Westminster Hwy., Richmond BC and continues to enjoy the company of her two dogs Oby & Shylie. |
