Date: 21 September 2001

Dear Parents

There has been some publicity that some schools will be closed on Monday 24th September as part of the national celebration of the recent success of the Malaysian team at the SEA Games. Because our school has just finished a long holiday break, we will remain open on Monday. Therefore all students are expected to be in school as usual on this day.

School Year Calendar

Please find attached the school's calendar of events for the coming academic year. The first major event will be the school photographs on October 3rd. The Primary Department will hold parent teacher interviews on October 4th. The school PTA will be holding a high-tea to welcome new families to the school on October 5th.

New Zealand Field Trip: 2002

The school is investigating the possibility of organising a field trip to New Zealand for students in the Secondary department in September 2002. This will take place in the last two weeks of the school holidays. Parents and siblings will be permitted to accompany students on the trip. A meeting will be held for interested students and their parents on Monday 24 September at 2.30pm in the school library.

Ten-Pin Bowling

Those pupils who are participating in the ten-pin bowling club after school on Fridays will need to have made arrangements for parents to drop them of at Sutera Harbour by 3.00pm and pick them up by 4.00pm each week.

FOBBISEA Games: May 2002

Kinabalu International School will be hosting the primary schools FOBBISEA Games in May 2002. There will be some 360 pupils coming from international schools in Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Brunei, Philipines and Japan.

The Games will last for 5 days / 4 nights, and will include athletics, swimming and football competitions as well as trips to various locations around Kota Kinabalu. This is a tremendous opportunity for our pupils to meet and participate alongside so many other children from other schools.

It is also a wonderful opportunity for our school to promote itself amongst the local and international community. We are seeking sponsorship support in the form of donations of money to meet the cost of the games, as well as drinks, t-shirts, caps, bags and the like that we can give to all the participating pupils. If anyone or any company is able to assist the school in securing these, please let me know.
