Dear Parents

Harvest Festival Holiday Break

The school will be closed from Wednesday, 30th May and will re-open on Tuesday 5th June. When the school re-opens on Tuesday, our Secondary Department pupils will begin having their classes in the newly constructed classroom block.

Move to New Secondary Department

Tomorrow afternoon the pupils in the Secondary Department will be involved in helping in the shift into the new buildings. The shift will take place immediately after lunch break. Because they will be involved in the shift, they are permitted to come to school tomorrow in mufti (out of uniform).

FOBISSEA Games Report

Our school sent a team of 22 competitors to the FOBISSEA Games in Brunei last week. Our pupils did extremely well. They won 21 medals in swimming, athletics and soccer. This is the most the school has won in a long time. More importantly, our school won the ‘Sportsmanship’ award. This award is a reflection of the tremendous effort and team spirit that existed amongst our pupils. Well Done!!

A special thank you to Miss Johnstone for all the work she put into organising and preparing the team for the event.

Pet Day

The school PTA are investigating the possibility of organising a school Pet Day. To date we have four confirmed entries, but a few more are needed. If you are interested in participating in this event please let the school know.

School Nature Club

The Nature Club, which has now grown to some 32 members, organised two trips over the weekend. On Friday, our pupils went to a fish farm in Babagon, and on Saturday a trip to the Dinosaur Exhibition was organised. The school Nature club is proving to be a very successful and enjoyable activity for our pupils. This is due to the fantastic work by Mrs Marsh and Mrs Lamb who have organised all these events.

School Inspection

On Thursday and Friday next week, the school will undergo an inspection by Mr John Jones, who is a senior member of FOBISSEA. This visit has been planned since last year, and is aimed at providing the school with an appraisal of its structure and will lay the groundwork for the next phase in the schools development plan.

Barnaby’s Travels

Reception & Year 1 class wish to send their toy monkey, Barnaby, on travels around the world as part of the geography work. Any parents that are travelling to another country, are asked to carry Barnaby with them (Barnaby is very small and easily cared for) and either take a photograph of Barnaby in that country or send a postcard from him to the class from that country. The class will then create a display of all the countries he has visited and plot his travels on a map. Please see Miss Johnstone if you have travel plans in the near future.

Donation of Picnic Tables

The school is attempting to raise funds to purchase twelve new wooden picnic tables for pupils to sit at during the play and lunch breaks. These will be distributed around the grassed area next to the car park, the present eating area in front of the Primary Department and in front of the new Secondary Department. The school PTA is seeking families or companies to donate the RM226.00 needed to purchase a table. Anyone interested in supporting this appeal, please contact the school office or speak to Mrs Nilcea Bursche.
