Dear parents

Earlier this week, Miss Johnstone and the Reception/Year 1 class enjoyed a very informative trip to the Sri PasupathmaTemple. Many thanks to Mrs Ravi for arranging the visit and to Mrs Sarah Lim for accompanying the class on such short notice. If you pop into the Reception/Year 1 classroom on Tuesday or Wednesday next week, the splendid photographs from the visit can be seen on the computer.

A big thank you Mrs Lamb and Mrs Marsh for making the Nature Club’s visit to the KK Bird Sanctuary such a success. Birds and biscuits – the perfect combination.

The Adventure Club tried their hand at mountain biking last Sunday under the expert supervision of Ms Stansfield. The event was very successful and extremely muddy. Thank you to all parents who took part. Similar trips are planned and all parents are welcome to join in the fun.

This week Ms Hardie supervised the essay competition for Years 4 to 11. The standard was very high, well done all. Congratulations to the winners who are:

·         Years 4 to 6: Bing Shian Tseu and  Logan Hamilton - a tie
·         Years 7 to 9: Claudia Lim
·         Years 10 and 11: Shawn Liew.

Many thanks to Mrs Lamb, Mrs Davies and Mrs Hamilton for judging the different categories.

Next week will be very busy indeed. Although Monday is a public holiday and the school is closed, the calendar is very crowded. On Tuesday the Covenant Players, a theatre group from Australia, will be giving workshops to the students. Friday morning sees the arrival of the Sabah Nature Club who will give a talk during assembly.

The biggest attraction next week, “The KIS PTA International Food Fair”, will be held at 6.30 pm on Friday, 30th March. Come and taste delicious food from around the world cooked by KIS parents. A gourmet’s delight! There will be Bingo as well. Please return the slips along with the money to the school office by Tuesday.

On Friday morning as you drop off the children, there will be a chance to buy baskets and other wicker items. The money raised will go to a good cause – The Blind Society.

Next week, the senior students will be taking their end of term exams. A copy of the timetable has been displayed all week at school and will be sent home with the children. Friday swimming will take place as usual next week.

Sports Day is just around the corner and we need parents to volunteer their services as officials. If you are able to help on 5th April, please contact Cigku Mutang.

Lunch time league football  - Final standings After a term of close competition, the first Lunchtime league has come to a close.

The under 13 league was won after a sudden death penalty shootout was held with a number of spectators including other pupils and parents in attendance. Marius Super Bros Co finally overcame their close rivals You Two after Min Yee kept a clean sheet and Marius converted off the left upright to beat Kevin Hughes with an unstoppable penalty.

The Under 16 league was won by Freelanders United who dominated their league from the first game. Second place was closely contested by Blue Fox and Desturbed, with Desturbed just proving the more consistent.

The league has proved very popular with the pupils, and a challenge match between Freelanders United and an Under 13 All Star team will take place on the    2 April.

After the Easter Break a new league will begin with the same teams contesting a different sport.

We are a little concerned that children are playing at the back of the school after they have finished classes at 2.10 pm. Accidents can happen! Parents are respectfully reminded to supervise their children at the end of the school day.

Mr Van Rijswijk has been attending the FOBISSEA Heads’ Business Meeting this week. Normal service will be resumed next week.
