The ‘meet the teachers’ function held at the Tanjung Aru Shangri La Beach Resort last Friday evening was a tremendous success. A special feature of our school is the support parents give to all these types of events. Many parents attended and were able to get to meet the staff in a more informal setting. I would like to extend a special thanks to the school PTA for organising this event.

Donation of Aquarium

I would like to thank Mr & Mrs Sinsua for donating the aquarium and stand to Reception & Year 1 class. The classes are presently using it to observe the growth cycle of frogs.

FOBISSEA Games

The last day for confirming your child’s participation in the FOBISSEA Games is Monday 12^th February. Parents are also asked to confirm which package that wish to have.

Adventure Club: Rafting

An adventure club has been organised in the school and is open to all Secondary Department pupils. The club aims to provide activities on the weekend that provide new experiences for the pupils, and introduce them to a range of possible outdoor recreational pursuits. It also aims to raise an awareness of environmental concerns.

This is an excellent opportunity for our pupils to experience the natural beauty of Sabah. The staff are giving up their weekends to lead these events, and so it is hoped that parents will encourage their children to participate. The first activity that is being organised and led by the Secondary Department staff is river rafting at Kiulu River. This is to be on 18^th February. All pupils are to confirm their participation by 14^th February.

Lunch-time Sports Leagues

Mr Dickinson and Cigku Mutang have organised a series of sports leagues at lunchtimes for pupils in Year 5 and above. This is to occupy the pupils in healthy activities during these breaks. The first league is a soccer tournament and has proven to be very popular.

Outward Bound School Trip

Preparations are underway for Year 6 – 11 pupils to attend camp at the Outward Bound School in Kinarut. The proposed dates for this trip is 2^nd – 4^th April. More details are to follow.

Music Teacher

A new music teacher will be beginning at the school next week. Her name is Ms Queenie. She will teach classes in both the primary and secondary departments.
