Dear Parents

Well, this term comes to a close just as it started – in a whirl of activity. The last few days have seen a number of sports and social events that I think help to make us a thriving and rounded community.

Mufti Day
Mufti Day is a termly event and one that allows us to make a donation to charity. Children pay RM5 for the privilege of not wearing uniform to school and a worthy cause benefits. It has also become an occasion when the PTA offers for sale a delicious range of cakes, snacks and other gastronomic delights. It is a lot of work but it raises money for the “little extras” that make a big difference to the school. I would like to extend my sincere thanks for all the preparation, cooking and hard work that took place under a recently sweltering sun. The day was a resounding and well-deserved success.

Easter Egg Competition
The painted eggs entered for the Easter Egg competition looked lovely and judging them was a hard task. However, the eventual winners were Marcus Heywood (Year 2) in the 7 and under category and Jing Yi (Year 5) in the 8 and over category. Congratulations to them - and my thanks to all competitors for contributing to a lovely exhibition of eggs.

It’s a Sporting Life …
We have also been busy on the sporting front, so here is our special correspondent’s round up of the season:

“Sport has continued this term to raise its profile here at KIS. A momentous occasion occurred in February when the seniors played their first ever basketball fixture with CCC, going down after a close encounter 50-47.

In the world of football, KIS played a best of three series against local footballing legends DHI. The experience of the water engineers told, with the DHI emerging 2-1 victors. Several of their players mentioned afterwards how impressed they were with the KIS students.

We also had two football tournaments within the school. Congratulations go to “I’m Lovin’ it, dum dum dum dum daaaa” in the secondary and the “Mighty Red Devils” in the primary tournament.

Sulug emerged victorious in the inter-house volleyball and we wait with baited breath for the inter-house hockey on Friday 2nd April.

An excellent swimming gala went down to the last race , with Sulug emerging again victorious.

Once again the sportsmanship and application of the KIS pupils constantly impresses this correspondent.

Any parents who would like to take part in a parents vs pupils football match should contact Mr Leak.
Thank You
Ms Dennis would like to thank Mrs Ling Ling Park for her assistance with the Cooking Club. It’s great having parent’s help with after school clubs.

Roller Trainers … roller shoes, trainers with wheels on … whatever they are called, you will know what I am talking about – because you, like me, will have been nearly flattened by them in KK’s shopping malls. However much fun they might be, I’m afraid they have no place in school. From the beginning of next term children will not be allowed to wear them in school and we shall all live a little more safely.

On that note, I would like to wish you all a safe, enjoyable and relaxing holiday.

Happy Easter!

Best wishes,
