Dear Parents

I will start this week’s letter with another round of thank-yous: to Laynee Dobson for donating a carpet, to Nori Haywood for donating shoe racks and to all the parents of Year 1/2 who have donated large comfy cushions - and are fast turning the Year1/2 classroom into a designer home! My thanks also to Menno Schilthuizen for donating some books to the library. To all of you, we are grateful.

Lunchtime Supervision
The PTA is organising a roster of parents to help supervise the children’s eating at lunchtime. This has always been difficult for one member of staff on their own and extra eyes to ensure that food is properly eaten and cleared away will be welcome.
Venue for the Primary Production
We are planning a primary production on the theme of festivals for presentation at the end of this term and I would be very pleased to receive any suggestions of possible venues. I have looked at Yayasan Sabah, which has possibilities, but would really welcome an opportunity to see what else is available. If you know of any venues, or better still are in a position to offer a venue, I would be very pleased to hear from you.

Itchy Heads
There seem to be a number of itchy heads in school at the moment. Please check your children’s heads carefully for unwelcome visitors if itchiness occurs!
Secondary Shoes
It has been agreed that secondary students should wear shoes that are “predominantly white, black or brown.” Please keep to these guidelines.

Fizz Buzz
Last week we held an open competition to find the secondary section Fizz Buzz champion. Congratulations to Didi from Year 10, who emerged victorious.

Sports Clubs
If students are going to participate in a sports club, they need to bring to school a towel and a change of clothes in case of wet weather. They also need to arrange pick-up times that allow for showering and getting changed after the game, please.

KIS vs Kentucky Fried United – Match Report
It was good to see the Star Sports reporters at the ground for this classic encounter. This is what they sent us afterwards:

“A gripping encounter between KIS and Kentucky Fried United was witnessed by a bumper crowd at the airport ground. The home team’s experience proved too much for the youthful efforts of the KIS boys but the 6 – 1 scoreline did not reflect the amount of possession enjoyed by the KIS team. Ashley Ling netted a fine individual goal, whilst Sho made a fine debut on the right, Johnson rampaged in mid-field and Sam Wickham, gazelle-like, covered every blade of grass. Somehow, against the run of play, KFU managed to slip in six goals. This reporter is sure that, with practice, this year could see KIS emerging as one of the region’s most powerful teams.”

In the light of such a report, it seems odd that ESPN failed to televise recorded highlights of the match. Perhaps next time… In the meantime, if anyone can help to arrange any future fixtures, please contact Mr Leak.

Last week’s competition was won by Kevin Hughes. Well done. This week’s puzzle is Match the Words, again courtesy of Mr Leak. As an example of what you have to do, 7 d.i.a.w. = 7 days in a week. Now try the following:

  2. 100 Y.I.A.C.
  3. 20 T.I.T.R.W.C.
