Dear Parents

Welcome

It has been encouraging to see a steady stream of new parents visiting the school to see what we have to offer their children. This week, two former students, Louisa and Claudia Lim, have returned to resume their education with us and two students new to Kota Kinabalu, Nicholas and Jason Rodda have joined our ELC and Reception classes. To all of them, we extend a warm welcome.

Book Donations

Books for the school library have also been arriving in a steady stream. This week, I would like to thank Lotte Thomsen for her donations. All the books we receive go either into classrooms or into the library. In either case, they are used and appreciated.

Hats

As I write, it is a very bright sunny day. Unfortunately, the “better” the weather, the more important it is that children’s heads are covered when they are outside. Can I remind all parents of the necessity of providing their children with school caps for use during playtime, PE and many club activities? If your child does not already have one, caps are available from the school office.

Football Kit

I would like to thank Mr and Mrs Hughes for their generous donation of a full set of football kit for the school team. I am sure they will spur the team to achieve great things. Their next match is against Kentucky Fried United at 5.00pm on Sunday and we wish them every success.

Football for Parents

Recreational football for Year 10 and 11 (is there such a thing?!) takes place after school on Friday from 2:00 – 3:30. Any parents who would like to join in are most welcome.

Anagram Competition

As well as running our football activities, Mr Leak has dreamed up a little competition to liven up our weekend. Anagrams are words in which the letters have been mixed up (eg nestin = tennis). The following anagrams are all the names of sports or pastimes. The first person to unravel them correctly and hand them in to Mr Leak will receive a prize.

A         lafobolt
B          rasecols
C          haltanoced
D         run buoying
E          mit and nob
F          herarcy
G         drillabis
H         ingrow
I           nisten bleat
J           stinky diwdl

Change of Time for Athletics Club

Athletics Club will now run from 2.10 – 3.00 on Tuesdays. The original timing was to accommodate Key Stage 3 students but the club will now run for Years 3 – 6 only.

Early Mornings

I notice that a significant number of children are arriving at school before 7.30. Whilst I am delighted with their enthusiasm, I need to point out to parents that there is no actual supervision of children before 7.30. It would help if younger children, particularly, do not arrive in school before that time.

 Best wishes,
