Arrangements for
the Arrival of Children The school
playground has been a much pleasanter place since cars were kept out.
Without running car engines the air is cleaner and the lack of moving
vehicles means that the playground is much safer. Consequently, from
Monday April 28, cars will NOT be allowed into the playground when
dropping off children in the morning. The arrangements for the morning
will be the same as we use currently in the afternoons. We believe that
the small inconvenience the new arrangement will cause is far outweighed
by the benefits. May Day Holiday The school will be
closed for the Labour Day holiday next Thursday, May 1. PTA Coffee
Morning In order to introduce the new PTA committee and to welcome parents new to the school, a coffee morning will be held at the home of Park Ling-Ling on Thursday, May 8. The coffee morning will start at 8:30 and will be a “pot luck” affair. New parents do not need to bring anything to the coffee morning. This promises to be a very enjoyable morning so all parents are urged to attend. It will be a great chance to support our PTA. Indian Food Fair This
Sunday, April 27, the Sabah Indian Association is holding a “Food
Fair’ between 7:30am and 1:30pm at the KK Community Centre. There will
be biriyani, tandoori, fish pickles, murruku, sweets and many more
delights to taste. Coupons are available at the door. Year 10 and 11
Visit This morning, the Year 10 and 11 students will be visiting Moyog Water Treatment Plant and Babagon Dam as part of their GCSE Biology and Chemistry courses. The students will learn first hand about water treatment and testing for bacteria, two topics that are included in their programmes of study. Our thanks go to Ms Stansfield for organising the trip. |
Examinations As in previous years,
the final term is the exam season. Some of our Year 11 students have already
started their IGCSE’s and these will continue until June 20. The National
Curriculum Tests will start for some of our Year 9 students on Tuesday, May 6,
and for the Year 6 students on Monday, May 12.
We wish all those taking exams the best of luck. KIS Football The KIS football team
will be playing against the Nexus Resort staff team on Sunday at 4:00. The
game will be played at ILP which is situated on the road out to Karambunai. Art Competition in
aid of WWF Malaysia At the end of last term
we announced that we are holding an Art Competition. Just to remind everyone,
the competition is open to all KIS students and the closing date is Friday,
May 29. There is still plenty of time to enter the competition so why not try
your hand at producing some art on the theme of “Nature”. The entries can
be drawings, paintings, sculptures, photographs or computer-generated
pictures. There are prizes to be won so do your best. After School Clubs Next week a letter will
be sent home to all parents giving the activities on offer this term. The
after school clubs will start on Monday, May 5. Every effort will be made to
ensure that the children get the chance to participate in their first choice
clubs. Mufti Day On final day of last
term students were allowed to come to school dressed in “mufti” for a RM5
donation to WWF Malaysia. The day was a great success and raised RM345. Well
done everyone. AM Finance Promotion The Am Finance Bank is
currently holding a promotion as described on the attached flier. If you do
decide to open a new account with them please inform the school office. The
bank is offering to sponsor school events to the tune of up to RM1,000 if we
have enough new account holders. |
