Dear Parents

Reception – Year 5 ICT Fair

The pupils in Reception to Year 5 have worked hard to present samples of their work in ICT for you to view. This can be seen in the ICT lab between 1.00 – 2.30pm. A special thank you to Mr White for arranging this.

Secondary Department Science/ICT Fair

The Secondary Department will be holding a Science and ICT Fair on Friday 19th July from 1.10pm – 2.30pm. The science entries will be on display in the science lab, while the entries for ICT will be on display in the ICT lab. All parents are invited to view the entries.

 Guest Speaker at Assembly

Today we had Amy Rachel Mathew, an ex student from our school, to give a talk to the Secondary Department students about her memories about KIS and also about her studies overseas.

Careers Week

As the school will soon be offering A-levels, careers education is becoming more important. So this week has been set aside as the Secondary Department’s careers week. In the afternoons our students, Years 6 to 12, have had the opportunity to listen to people talk about their professions and jobs. The speakers have presented talks on jobs ranging from the police to aircraft engineering. Our students have enjoyed listening to people who are so obviously thoroughly immersed in what they do. From the probing nature of the questions asked by the children it seems as though some might have already picked out a career.

Most of the speakers were from the parent body. It is good to know that you are such a talented group. Our thanks go to Mrs Linda Joeman (Social Researcher), Mr Mohd Farid Kamal (Aircraft Engineer), Mr John Hamilton (Landscape Architect), Dr Rajah (Pediatrician), Mrs Shirley Wong (Lawyer), Mr Peter Hughes (Civil Engineer) and Ms Phoon Sook Peng (Singer). We also thank ASP Ravi Chandra (Policeman) and Mr Karim Hussein (Architect) who do not have children in the school but who have kindly given their time to share their experiences and ideas with the students.

- Kevin Davies, Head of Secondary

  School BBQ and Prize Giving

The school PTA will be holding a school BBQ on Friday 26th July. There will be the school prize giving held at the same time. The event will begin at 5.30pm with the school senior soccer team playing a parents/teachers match. The BBQ and prize giving will follow the game. Any parent interested in playing in this game please see Mr Dickinson. PTA will be selling tickets for the BBQ next week

  Internal Security Measure

To ensure that both teachers and the school office are well aware of any students who had to leave the school premises earlier than the school finishing times, a “Student Exit Pass” system will be implemented effective Monday next.

 How the system works:

:      No students will be allowed out of school premises between 8am – 2:10pm, whether alone or collected by parents UNLESS the Student Exit Pass is presented to the Security Guard.

:      ELC students are exempted from the system IF collected by parents from 11:30am onwards.

:      Upon request from parents or as determined necessary for the student to go home early by the class teacher, a WRITTEN permission from the teacher will be sent to the school office for the issuance of the Exit Pass to the student concern.
