Dear Parents

  FOBISSEA Games

The FOBISSEA Games have proven to be a tremendous success. As I mentioned at the Gala Dinner, the Games were a whole school effort with many parents, students and staff involved in the organization of them. I have received many very positive comments and letters of praise from schools that attended the games. I would like to thank everyone for all the hard work they put into making the Games the success they were.

It was especially heartening to receive so many positive comments about the sensible and responsible effort put in by our Secondary Department students who assisted in various tasks throughout the Games. Similarly, I received many encouraging comments about the warmth and team spirit of our own school team.

We had some 33 students competing at the Games. This is the largest team we have ever fielded. All of our students competed with pride ad commitment; it was very encouraging to see every one of our students trying so hard. We won 24 individual medals; the most we have ever won at the Games. But more importantly, our students gained confidence in their own ability to participate and made many new friends from other schools.

I would like to thank Ms Johnstone and Ms Dennis for all the hard work they put into preparing our team. I would also like to thank the school PTA and Mrs Margot Vekic for way in which they assisted outfitting our team. Next year’s FOBISSEA Games will be in Penang, and I know that we already have many students and parents keen to attend these.

School Holidays

A reminder to all parents that the school will be closed on Thursday (30th May) and Friday (31st May) for the Harvest Day celebrations.

PTA Items For Sale

The school PTA still has a small number of FOBISSEA Games t-shirts for sale. They also have some cartons of mineral water and soft drinks for sale. The PTA will have a sale of these items on Wednesday 5th June.

After School Clubs

A letter is being sent home today with choices for the after school clubs that will be offered. This is to be returned by Tuesday 4th June. Clubs will begin on Monday 10th June.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Min-Yee Tseu (Year 8), who was the youngest team member that participated in the recent 24-hour Golf Marathon Tournament charity event, an event endorsed by the Malaysian Book of Records. There were 11 teams and all teams broke the old record and raised over RM300,000 for the various charity entities. Congratulations to Dr K T Lim & his group who won the championship.
