Dear Parents

As we end the assessment week, we enter yet another very busy week next week with the FOBISSEA Games. Some 256 students from British schools all over Asia will be competing at the Games. Additionally we are expecting some 150 parent-supporters to also be involved. The Tokyo British School and the Seoul Foreign School will be arriving on Monday, whilst the rest of the schools will be arriving on Wednesday next week.

Our school will be closed next week from Wednesday to Friday for the Games. The staff will be very involved in preparing for the event on the Wednesday. All Year 4 to 6 pupils will be competing at the Games from Thursday to Saturday. There will also be a small number of Year 3 pupils competing to help make up the numbers. All Year 7 – 12 students who are not involved in IGCSE examinations are expected to attend the Games on the Thursday and Friday to help as officials.

All pupils representing the school at the Games as well as all of the Secondary Department students have already had letters sent home with them explaining various aspects of their involvement and where each event will be held. But as a reminder, please take note of the following venues and times:

Thursday 23^rd May 

Swimming at Sutera Harbour Marina Pool at 7.30am to 1.00pm

  Friday 24^th May      

Athletics at University Malaysia Sabah Athletics Stadium at 7.30am – 1.00pm

  Saturday 25^th May  

Soccer competition at the Kepayan Police Headquarters at 7.30am – 1.00pm

Billet Arrangements for Kathmandu School Students

Some families in the school will be providing accommodation for students from the Kathmandu British School from Sunday 26^th May to Wednesday 29^th May. A letter has already been sent home to each of these families earlier this week. However, a meeting will be held in the school library at 2pm on Monday 20^th May for those parents who have agreed to act as billets for these students.

FOBISSEA Games Gala Dinner

All students competing at the FOBISSEA Games and their parents are invited to attend the Gala Dinner on Saturday 25^th May in the Grand Ballroom of the Sutera Magellan Hotel from 6.30pm – 8.30pm. Whilst our school has been able to arrange sponsorship to cover the cost of the tickets for competing students and their parents, any siblings that will be attending will need to pay RM30 a ticket. Please confirm with Miss Johnstone that you will be attending the Gala Dinner by Monday 20^th May.

 FOBBISEA Games: Parent Volunteers

 We still need a few more parent volunteers to act as officials during the sporting events at the FOBISSEA Games. If you are able to assist please see me.

 I would like to thank the PTA for providing the sports and dress uniforms for all of our students competing at the FOBISSEA Games. The PTA will also be very involved throughout the Games selling drinks and T-shirts to competitors and supporters.
