Dear Parents

Welcome back to the start of a new school term, the last term in this academic year. It is a busy term with National Curriculum Tests underway, immediately followed by the FOBISSEA Games that we as a school are hosting. Mid way through the term, we plan a series of day and overnight camps for our students. A Careers Week, whereby students will have the opportunity to learn about the various career options waiting for them in the future will follow this.

National Curriculum Tests

Most Year groups will have finished their National Curriculum Tests today. Year 2 students have a couple more to finish next week. The results for these will not be available until July, as they need to be sent to England for marking. The school will organize a Curriculum Evening for parents in June to explain the various level descriptors that will be used as the grades when we receive these test results back.

FOBISSEA Games

Our school is hosting this year’s FOBISSEA Games during 22nd – 26th May. There will be nine schools competing with some 255 students and 150 parent supporters involved. The schools, all of them members of FOBISSEA, come from Nepal, Thailand, West Malaysia, Korea, Japan and Taiwan. We still need some parent volunteers to assist with each day’s competition, so if you are willing to help please see me.

FOBISSEA Training

A training schedule has already been sent home advising parents of when and where the training sessions will be held. I would like to thank Mr Scott Ollenshaw, the former soccer professional for volunteering to coach our soccer teams. Please note that the times for the swimming training sessions set to be held on Wednesday and Thursdays is now 3.00 – 4.00pm.

An individual’s events list has been sent home today with all FOBISSEA competitors. Please help your child remember which events they are entered for. Children should attend the relevant training sessions over the next two weeks.

New Zealand Ski Trip Meeting

There will be a meeting on Tuesday 14th May at 2.30pm in the library for all those involved in the ski trip to New Zealand.

School Caps & Uniforms

A reminder, that all students should be wearing the school cap this term. No other caps are permitted. Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct school uniform; this includes wearing shoes that are predominantly white in colour (not blue with a splash of white).

Photos Needed for School Magazine

If parents have any photos of school events such as class trips, the productions or sports events please give these to Mr White to scan so that they can be used in this year’s school magazine. These will be returned to you once they have been scanned.

Swimming Time Change Reception – Year 3

Swimming on Thursdays for the above classes has been changed to the afternoon, as the pool is no longer available earlier in the day because it is being cleaned. The children will have an early lunch break from 12.00- 12.40pm and will leave for swimming at 12.45pm. They will return to school by 2.05pm
