Dear Parents

Secondary Production

Last night’s performance of Larry Potter was a resounding success; more so, because it was a play that was written and choreographed by the students themselves. This is the first Secondary Department drama that has been performed and the enthusiasm with which the children acted bodes well for the future. I would like to express the school’s gratitude to Mrs Gina Hamilton for dedicating so many hours into making the costumes and assisting during rehearsals.  Similarly, congratulations must also go to Logan Hamilton who wrote the play.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

A reminder that there will be Parent-Teacher Interviews on Monday 2.45pm – 4.00pm and 6.00 – 7.30pm. Students should have already submitted their interview requests. If you have not already done so, then please submit your form today. There will be a short presentation by Mr Davies at 4.00pm to parents of Year 10 & 11 students in the Geography room on their GCSE options. All parents are welcomed to attend this.

Staff Adventure Race Success

Congratulations to Ms Stansfield and Mr Dickinson racing under the team name, Kinabalu International School, who beat out a field of some 80 teams in the recent Sabah Adventure Challenge to be placed second in the Mixed Category. This was no easy achievement, as they had to cover 190km over very rough terrain starting on Mt Kinabalu and finishing at Sutera Harbour.

IGCSE Examinations

Today we have students sitting their Mandarin and English as a Second Language IGCSE examinations. On Monday we will have students sitting their Malay IGCSE examinations. This is the first part of the process whereby the students are taking the speaking and listening segment of the exam.

Our Year 2 – 9 students will be sitting the assessments for the National Curriculum Tests (NCT) in the first week of the new term. A timetable for these assessments is attached. Please note that the Year 2 tests will be marked internally. Year 6 and Year 9 students will be sitting the NCTs that will be sent to England for marking. The results for these tests will not be available until late July. Other year groups will be sitting what is called the non-compulsory tests and our school staff will mark these.
