Dear Parents

School Sports Day: 27th March

The school will be holding its Athletics Sports Day on Wednesday 27th March at the stadium at the University Malaysia Sabah (UMS). Please see attached map of how to get to the stadium. This event is part of our school’s build up to the FOBISSEA Games that we are hosting.

All students will need to be at the stadium by 7.45am. We want to get the events started early so that we don’t have the children standing out in the sun too long. Therefore we rely on parents to have their children there on time. We have arranged the programme in such a way that all of the ELC to Year 2 pupils will be finished by 10.00am and they can be taken home at this time. The rest of the events will be finished by 12.00 noon at the latest. All parents are invited to come along and support the day.

Parent Teacher Association AGM

The PTA will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Monday 25 March in the school library at 8.00am. The PTA has done a wonderful job throughout the year organizing several social events and do a lot of fund raising for the students. Amongst other things, the PTA fund raining efforts have bought drink fountains, table tennis tables, high jump pads, a digital video camera, as well as sponsored sports uniforms for our FOBISSEA teams.

The school needs your continued support by attending the AGM and voting in a new PTA Committee. Please make the time available to attend this important meeting.

Easter Weekend Holiday

The school will be closed for the Easter Weekend holiday on 29th March. School will re-open on Monday 1st April.

Secondary Department Production

The Secondary Department will be putting on a major production on Thursday 4th April at the Sutera Harbour theatre in the evening. The students have been putting in a tremendous amount of work in preparation for this performance and it is sure to be a most entertaining event. Tickets will go on sale next week for this.

FOBISSEA Games Training

We now have just two months until the FOBISSEA Games that we are hosting here in Kota Kinabalu. We will have eight schools alongside our own with 250 pupils competing. These schools are coming from Nepal, Thailand, West Malaysia, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. They will be accompanied by about 200 parent supporters and teachers.

As hosts we hope to be very competitive this year. Particularly since for the first time in the school’s history we will be fielding a complete team at the Games. Miss Johnstone, Ms Dennis and Miss Stansfield have been giving up a lot of time to provide training sessions for our team. However, it is disappointing to note that despite the fact that all of our Year 4 – 6 students will be competing in the Games, very few turn up to these training sessions. Please ensure your children make the effort of attending. At the Games they will be racing some very competitive schools and so we want them to be as prepared as they can be so that they get the most out of the experience.

Primary Movie Club

This Wednesday 27th March the Primary Movie Club will be going to see the ‘Ice Age’, an animated movie. All children and families are welcome. Meet at the Golden Screen Cinema at Asia City at 4.00pm. This is to attend the 4.30pm showing. Tickets cost RM8.00 for children and adults. Please see Ms Johnstone and Ms Dennis for more details.
