Ice cold rain
Falls deep into the night
I hear drops
Ping somewhere out of sight

It's chilling effect
Reaches within my bones
The warmth escapes
Making me feel as cold as stones

Gusts of wind
Adds to this midnight storm
Taking with it
Any chance of staying warm

Rain's steady assault
Continues to draw on and on
Promising to last
Until the warmth of dawn
