| Da Costa Diary, TARUN BHARAT, 5th February, 2005. By Ethel da Costa. CHANNEL [V] Here we come.... so said KISMET when the qualified for the final round of the All India Bands Competition LAUNCHPAD, organised by music channel , Channel [V], in MUMBAI. Competing against the likes of ZERO, THEMCLONES, and PIN DROP VIOLENCE, the boys from MARGAO kept the Flag of GOAN music flying with their original repertoire of fusion sound and lyrics with social messages. Formed about a year ago Kismet comprises of Vijayan Almeida( lead guitar, vocals, flute and lyrics), Vinu Dias(bass), Alex D'Souza (drums), Floyd Santimano(keyboards). KISMET have collaborated with an established carnatic classical percussionist SATHISH KRISHNAMURTHY on their first album. They have experimented heavily and used diverse percussion instruments like mridangam, ghatam, kanjira, morsing and even the goan ghumat. Kismet's music is truly without boundaries and u got to be prepared to be surprised when u listen to them. Their music is a seamless fusion of diverse genres from goan folk, carnatic classical, heavy metal and hard rock, world music, reggae and the list goes on... They have released their first single (9-11) on Radio and it has been ruling the airwaves since then... Kismet is on it's way to release it's first full length album this year titled MANTHAN. |
