"Sally's Song"

Harry and Kathryn

Introductory Notes : Okay, bear with me...first, change all the "he"s and "him"s to "she"s and "her"s...in other words, the song is Harry's POV. Now, let's think how realistic a relationship between Harry and the Captain is. Exactly: No Way!! However, have you ever noticed Harry is the *only* character other than Janeway who lives Starfleet they way she does? Chakotay and B'Elanna were maquis, Tom was thrown out, The Doctor's a part of the ship, Neelix is from the Delta Quadrant, Seven's a Borg and Tuvok - Tuvok left Starfleet for an extended amount of time (personal reasons and all that, in other words, there are things that are more important to Tuvok than Starfleet). But Harry, Harry's as much Starfleet as Janeway is. Why is this significant? Easy, Harry's the one most likely to notice Janeway's interesting spins on Starfleet principles...and Harry is also the most superstitious and fantastic. However, at the same time Harry is the least likely to stand up to Janeway...or anyone else for that matter. So, quiet little Ensign Kim, here's your tribute to the Captain.

I sense there's something in the wind
That feels like tragedy's at hand
And though i'd like to stand by him
Can't shake this feeling that I have
The worst is just around the bend

And does he notice my feelings for him?
And will he see how much he means to me?
I think it's not to be

What will become of my dear friend?
Where will his actions lead us then?
Although I'd like to join the crowd
In their enthusiastic cloud
Try as I may it doesn't last

And will we ever end up together?
No, I think not, it's never to become
For I am not the one.
