Q: What and how do I have to eat, to gain muscle mass?

  In the morning, eat a lot for breakfast. Your body has just gone a good while without food while you were sleeping, so get a good breakfast. Then, during class, munch on a meal replacement bar. You can get those pretty cheap at Wal-Mart.

Then, for lunch, get plenty of protein and carbs. Try to watch your fat intake, but realize that when you are trying to gain weight, a little bit of fat is ESSENTIAL. Get some fish (that has plenty of essential fatty acids in it) if you can, and some chicken for protien. Eat baked potatoes and rice for your carbs.

Usually, a weight gainer shake about a half hour before you workout is good, too. I drink Weider Weight Gainer, but it's whatever you want, really.

After the workout, a protein shake with plenty of protein and carbs is a MUST. I drink Met-Rx now, but you might want to get something with more carbs and calories, like another weight gainer perhaps, since you are trying to bulk up.

Now, in the evening, try to stay away from carbs from fat. Don't go eating a bunch of Candy Bars or something. Maybe have some rice, but try to limit those carbs during this time of day, because that just leads to exces fat, which is bad.

Usually, a chicken salad is a good in between meal snack. That's what I have, anyway. Try to eat a protein rich dinner or two, and then for your last meal of the day, have a low-carb protein shake.

This type of diet sometimes gets a little pricy, but I shop at Wal-Mart for most of my stuff, to save money. Sometimes I'll bring some containers into the cafeteria, and snatch some food from there and bring it back to my room. You might want to try that!

Just eat as good as you can and lift as heavy as you can (but SAFELY), and you will see results. Gaining mass takes commitment, so don't slack off! Good luck, and lift smart!
