Cally Timebank Recycle Pick

Saturday 12 July 2003 - Meet 10:30 at Freightliners Farm

On 17 May we collected litter from Sheringham Road, Lough Road, Westbourne Road, Westbourne Estate, Roman Way, Caledonian Estate & MacKenzie Road.

During the exercise the following points were noted:

  • Allocate people to cover different streets & different material types. Bags are to be clearly labellled with the material to be collected,
  • Waterproof gloves will be provided as well & we will look at obtain litter grabbers to help reach the less accessible areas.
  • Produce A5 leaflets with information about what we are doing. The aim of the exercise is to encourage community recycling through education and participation.

    Back at Freightliners Farm, the rubbish is weighed and participants spend their callies on compact fluorescent lightbulbs which will help them cut their electricity usage
