Love Poems - UVWXYZ
Union - January 2, 2002
She comforts me
from miles away
with my darkest secrets
she keeps safe
and doesn't laugh
but acknowledges my pain
she brings me up
with laughter and praise
until I am once again calm
she laughs at my nervousness
and cries at my tears
she is constant
a beam
she writes me poetry
and leaves me flowers
and no broken promises
our lives have not been the smoothest
and our start was not the best
a past we try ever-so-hard to be rid
but creeps up at inopportune times
what started as fights
became understanding
and an intimacy that nightly phone calls
cannot bridge adequately
I miss her arms and lips
her smooth-talking voice
her maleness and femaleness
I miss her monster that I can console
and three days' wait
seems as long as this
three-week separation
I have not written many happy love poems
in recent times
I have not had much to say
for fear and because of heartbreak
each time I showed my love
it was tossed back at me
I lost hope and my language
but I am courageous now
through trembling hands I write this
once more in hope
of a love that is true and can fill
my heart's crevasses

"What He Really Means" - (25 February,
1995 -This one I wrote while in a very dreamy, romantic mood.  It was before ever having a  boyfriend.  I left it unfinished)
He says, "Hi,"
But, he really means, "Hello."
He asks, "How's it going?"
But, he really means, "Are you okay?"
He says, "Yeah, okay,"
But, he really means, "Whatever you wish."

White-Knuckle Ride - December 3, 2002
How many nights shall I spend sleepless?
I'm not dating women
because of my attraction to him
he has interrupted
the flow of my life
and, yet, I don't much mind
I've managed to
bat for the other team
arouse disgust from exes
and confuse myself
all at once
I doubt it's because I'm lonely
but part of me
for the sake of familiarity
is looking for the now unappealing
what we least know
both scares
and attracts us

Untitled - (an apology, written June, 1998)
I'm sorry I hurt you
I never meant to
If I were to ever lose you
I think I'd die
I know I said that
On the phone last night
I didn't mean it
As a threat
You're what makes my life complete
You're the one that matters
If I were to lose you
It's be like dying
I never meant to hurt you
I'm just too weak

What a Time to Get Lonely - (January
22, 1995)
Have you seen my heart?
I've lost it.
Actually, he took it.
Well, no, he really didn't take it.
When he left, it followed him.
Now I've finally realized he's not here.
Along with my heart,
My poor, little, broken heart.
What's left in me,
Where my heart used to be?
I don't know.
But, somehow blod flows within me.
Only it's cold, ice cold.
I can't even cry for him.
My tears have all been spent.
So, here I sit,
Wishing he'd come back.
Every thought I have involves him,
Every joke I tell,
I tell them the way he would.
I can't even count how many months it's
been.
I just wish he'd come back,
Say, "Hi!"
After all, it is Valentine's Day.

What is Love? - (June 17, 1999)
Love makes you feel
whole
in places you didn't think were empty
Love is
reassurance
Love is an eternal
hug
Love gives
warmth
no matter what the outside temperature
is, Love asks for nothing
more than
itself
Love is a
good
kind of
obsession

He is the other
piece
to my puzzle, he is the one I
hunger
for, he needs me as much as
I
need him

Love makes you
open
yourself up, it makes you
vulnerable
and you don't mind, Loving
someone
else shows you your faults and goods
and
makes you happy you
have
both as much as it makes you
happy
your lover does, too

Love makes you
realize
how good it
is
to be human
