The Cost of Kids

Children are hard to bring up
From the moment their life begins
Such was the case of Eric and Gayle
Mrs. Dubrowsky's twins
She had her heart set on two daughters
To this end she bought all the clothes
"Don't put your eggs in one basket"
Is the moral to this I suppose?
Gayle was the elder by minutes
Which made Mrs. Dubrowsky smile
Eric was somewhat smaller
And his birth took quite a while
"A girl and a boy" said the nurse
"Well done on your moment of joy"
Mrs. Dubrowsky just frowned
She just hadn't planned for a boy
Determined and quite undeterred
She said "The fates" were to blame
There and then she made the decision
To bring up the children the same
A woman quite careful with money
As any Ukrainian knows
She had budgeted for having two daughters
And spent quite a lot on the clothes
By the time the twins were fourteen
A party was held in the hall
Gayle looks a picture of happiness
Eric isn't happy at all!
