Kiritan City...
It is in another dimension; a completely different universe than ours, but the planet itself is only subtly different. The people there walk, talk, love, work, play and even fight like us. The differences? Who and what the people are, and what they are fighting over...
In this world, preternatural creatures roam about, fighting over control of the world. Each genre has won at certain points of time and each genre rules different areas of the planet. Of course, no one is banned from cities and places ruled by different species; there is just a silent understanding that outsiders enter at their own risk.
The preternaturals have successfully dominated the humans, their biggest triumph. In that war, all the different species had worked together. Now, corruption created by their hunger for power has turned them against each other.
In Kiritan City, the ruler, or High Chair as he is called, is a vampire of about 800 years of age. His name is Donalt. He has fought countless battles and won many, making his territory grow far beyond the original boundaries of the first-small Kiritan. As the 150 years of his rule went by, he conquered many other small towns and cities, making them a part of Kiritan, and turning it into a place much like our own New York City's night life. Of course there are many more rural areas on the outskirts, but the centre of the city is filled with night clubs run by vampires, casinos and bars run by lycanthropes, and eerie tattoo parlors run by zombies and demons.
At the geographical centre of Kiritan City is Hollis, the Grand Mansion and residence of Donalt. The ground level and second floor serve as a City Hall, while the basement and sub-basement are where Donalt resides. The top floors are where his servants live.
Donalt came from England, as did his brother, Virgil. Virge, as he is called, was an extremely evil child and adult, cursed by an angry fey to have a conscience that would never quit and live forever with it, never being able to find peace. Oh---and he was also cursed to be a shapeshifter. He can change into a panther at will, and like lycanthropes, on the full moon; but he has a strong urge to kill when he does change, and his overacting conscience makes him regret it a thousand times more.
The Assembly is the group of leaders of the world. The members are one of each different species in the world. The High Chair of the Assembly is named Ankhesa; she is called Preeminence. She was born in Egypt at the time of the first pharaoh and has been alive and uncontested ever since. She is the only one remaining of her species, lamia-primorus.
Virge believes that Donalt is running the city in ways that would not be seen as legal by the laws of the Assembly, and has notified them about his brother's behaviour. Now, anyone on the streets could be a spy for the Assembly; even someone in Donalt's own residence.
But with all of these preternatural creatures in sight, it seems that there are no humans around to care about the fighting going on. Only they are there---they're just very hidden.
Humans with no powers hide as much as they can in places pretes would not go. Hidden sewers, old subway tunnels...anywhere they can. They hide and they plot. They plot their resistance and for their own war that they will wage. They are lead by Ashlin Romanescu, a bright young man in his mid-twenties whose knowledge of weaponry and war-tactics exceeds any others'. He can no longer stand the fact that creatures took away the world his great-grandfather had once walked freely in. He wants to regain his world, and so do his followers. They will do anything---anything---to get it back.
Caught between the battles are two innocents; one is a witch by blood, the other is a psychic human.
Mahira, the witch, runs a witch's shoppe called Hassall on the outskirts of Kiritan, and works for the Museum of Magick as well. She has powers that even she does not realise; but it has come to Donalt's attention. He is in need of strong soldiers on his side, and he seems to believe that Mahira could be the strongest of them all. The problem: to get a neutral player to be on his side.
Elisabeth is a human with numerous psychic powers which she has yet to learn to control. Her fear of herself has lead her to conceal herself from those she loves and cares for. She knows of no-one who can teach her about her powers, but she has the shoulders of two men to cry on when she needs consoling. Ashlin and Virge. Of course, neither of them know that she is in contact with the other species.
Both men love Elisabeth---but one has ulterior motives. Which one will win her over? Or will they both fail in their attempts?
Who knows?
And watching over all of this is an angel of sorts. An angel of love, hope and even death.
Who does she work for? What is her purpose?
Only one way to find out...
