Moroccan costumes are amongst the most complex in the world; and this due to many historical, religious and sociological realities. In fact Morocco had been a spot of so many powerful civilizations within the Mediterranean Basin. It was the only kingdom which resisted to the Ottomans empire, while a huge number of other empires where settled. Only Morocco resisted!
Inhabitants were in such a harmony in stead of many problems and natural catastrophes which had engendered many troubles.
That�s why we may find many costumes which come from Berber and so on.
Take for instance the way we celebrate and rejoice some occasions; we constantly have various old habits inherited from the way our ancestors used to do. While in other counties some customs may be considered as something outlandish and even barbarian such as the way we kill ships at �feast of sacrifice�. Although we think that�s the best way to avoid ship from suffering Europeans go on by thinking that�s wrong!
They think that we torment ships. Even though a European or American can deal whit these �out of the ordinary� habits because they are widespread.
However -as a sociologist pointed out- an occident man would under no circumstances want to eat ships� testicles and would rather prefer to return back to his country!!! Because they find it amazing, disgusting and repulsive, we don�t!
As a conclusion a foreigner can cop with our environment but he would never accept some points of our culture because of the clash of cultures or what we call cross-cultural differences.
