| LISA LEVY - BIO Lisa Levy is an up and coming name on the Toronto music scene. She's had a wide variety of musical experience, from opera to big band, from musical theatre to oratorios. She's loved them all. Currently, Lisa performs her favourite genre, jazz, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night at Oakland Hall Inn in Aurora, with jazz pianist Roger Whitnall. Some of her recent gigs include The Bloor Street Diner, Lisa's Cafe, Oasis Restaurant and Bar, Timothy's Cafe, Riverside Cafe, The Rex with the Doc Green Big Band, and Palais Royale with the Doc Green Big Band. Lisa also performed extensively in St. Louis, Missouri with the Original Knights of Swing Big Band, at such venues as Union Station and the Casa Loma Ballroom. Lisa has a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from Southern Illinois University, in her home town of Edwardsville, Illinois. In 2001 Lisa completed her first CD, Finally, with reknowned bassist Tom Kennedy, drummer Tod Strait, pianist Christine Hitt, and saxophonist Larry Smith. It includes such favourites as They Can't Take That Away From Me, Someone To Watch Over Me, and Skylark. Some of Lisa's favourite jazz performers include Shirley Horn, Diana Krall, and newcomer Jane Monheit. She loves the standards, and especially enjoys singing the classic swing tunes that her listeners know. |
