The Horseshoes Tournament
Sunday, February 22, 2004
Well, as always, the Edinboro boys got themselves into some good times this weekend. Initiated by Eddie, six of them formed a team to compete in the local horseshoe tournament which doubled as a fundraiser. When asked what the fundraiser was for, many of them said "Huh? Oh.. I have no idea, but all the beer you can drink for $5? Can't beat that." And so went the day.
The annual contest is held at Calfins, a local pub and diner and there was a very good turnout this year. 36 teams entered to throw shoes and win or lose, everyone braved the cold weather, ate sausage and meatballs, and tried their best. On Eddie's team, The Good Guys, were teammates Kris, Big Al, Jeffy, Wessy and Tolandski. Beginning with a couple games of practice, they went on to lose their first two games and thereby be eliminated from the competition. But hey, there were some pretty serious ringers there and let's face it, The Good Guys weren't really there for the shoes.
